WHAT WE DO

Our aim is to increase the quality of life for those living and working in Waltham Forest in east London.

 

We will do that by:

  • presenting art and culture of the highest quality, accessible to all members of the community
  • increasing opportunities for Waltham Forest based artists to create work for their community
  • increasing the community’s engagement with the arts
  • surprising, delighting and inspiring the community

 

WHO WE ARE

Derek Bond – Director

Derek is a theatre director, with over 15 years experience, including directing award-winning productions for theatres including the Royal Exchange in Manchester, Storyhouse in Chester, Watford Palace, Theatre503, Soho Theatre, the Orange Tree and at the Hammersmith Apollo. He was one third of paper/scissors/stone, co-producing several critically acclaimed plays, including Alice Birch’s debut Many Moons, as well as pop-up interactive storytelling events. Ursula Early – Director

Ursula is a theatre producer, director, workshop facilitator and actress.

She is the producer and programmer for Walthamstow’s leading performance venue CentrE17.

Previously, she founded and was the Artistic Director of Big Bear Theatre Company. She has also been a Production Coordinator for Commercial West-End and international Production Company: GlynisHenderson Productions (Producers of STOMP and others).

Ursula trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and as worked as an actress extensively in Theatre, Film and TV. She is on the professional development faculty of Dance Research Studio and teaches on their Professional Development Programme.

 

 

Catherine Skinner – Creative Producer

Catherine is an actor and creative producer. She grew up in Birmingham and has lived in Walthamstow for over 12 years. As an actor she has worked in theatre, television and radio; with Birmingham Rep, Royal Shakespeare Company, at the Gielgud and Wyndhams Theatres in the West End and in various roles on BBC Radio 4. On television she has appeared in Call the Midwife, Casualty, Doctors and Close to the Enemy (BBC), Trauma (ITV), Catastrophe (Channel 4) and in Housewife 49 with Victoria Wood.
She has devised work with Kaos and Platform 4, as well as facilitating workshops in primary schools with Language Alive in Birmingham. She has produced work for her own company, The Equilibrium, and in 2017 was commissioned by Waltham Forest Council to create a pop up event for Silver Sunday – a “Vintage Humans” Afternoon Tea celebrating what people gain with age and bringing generations together. She has also helped produce “All Together Now” with Mrs H and the Sing-Along Band, bringing local pre-school children and older people from the local community together at a series of concerts across the borough.

 

 

Cressida Brown – Associate Director

Cressida is an award-winning theatre director and artistic director of Offstage Theatre – a company creating community-focused site-specific theatre and celebrating unheard voices. She is best known for HOME, a project about and for the community of the Beaumont Estate in Leyton. She lives in Walthamstow.
