SOMETHING ABOUT LIFE by Orlando Capitanio

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
We put a call out for writers from Waltham Forest who had not had a full length play professionally produced. We were inundated with responses. We had initially planned to select three writers, and provide them with a workshop with a professional writer, but chose to instead offer the workshop to everyone who sent in a sample of their writing. Legendary local playwright April de Angelis gave a fantastic workshop to the writers, who then took her advice onboard to deliver their final drafts of a five-minute play for the Garden Party. We selected 4 plays, held an open audition day for local professional actors, and then rehearsed the plays, performing them on the Earthly Paradise stage.
Forest Radio created a Podcast about the performance, which you can listen to here.
The writers found the workshop with April incredibly useful – we are hoping to start a regular writers meet-up, and potentially produce some scratch or sharing events. If you’re a writer based in Waltham Forest, please sign up here to be kept updated.
