Welcome 2019 – Theatre-makers wanted

“I loved the absolute terror and excitement of forcing myself to do something out of my comfort zone. It was a great way to meet loads of new people and bring the community together!” – Welcome Artist

This is a paid opportunity to be part of the Welcome Festival 2019! We’re looking to get in touch with theatre makers with a connection to Waltham Forest – You’ll be creating a new piece of theatre inspired by a host, and performing it in the host’s home. We’re looking for “one-person bands” who are can create work and perform it themselves. Perhaps you’re an actor, and would like the chance to write or devise something. Or you might be a writer, and want to challenge yourself to perform your own work. Or perhaps you are used to creating and performing your own work. However you like to work, you’ll need to have some professional experience – to either have trained or been paid to make / create / perform something.

You’ll meet your host on a Saturday, have the opportunity to chat to them and see their home, then you’ll have one week to create your piece (supported by Blackhorse Arts) before performing it in the host’s home to an audience invited by the host.

You’ll then guide your host and audience to a community hub for Act Two – an opportunity for all participants to meet each other and share experiences.

If this sounds like something you’d like to do, please fill out the form below, and we’ll be in touch soon!
